Blue Jays want Hill to be more patient

It’s hard to find fault with the season Blue Jays second baseman Aaron Hill is having. His 30 home runs are nearly double his previous career mark of 17 — which tied Roberto Alomar’s club record for second basemen — and put him in fourth in the American League in that category, and first among AL second basemen.


Going into Wednesday’s game, Hill’s average stood at .289 and he had knocked in 82 runs from the second slot in the batting order.

This, after missing almost all of last season with a serious concussion.

Yet, if there’s one area in which Hill could improve, it would be his ability to draw walks. He has gotten only 29 free passes this year — good for sixth place on his team, and seventh among AL second basemen.
