Frasor relishes chance to close
When asked if the team would go after a closer in the offseason, Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston said that role could be filled from within the organization.
Right-hander Jason Frasor couldn’t agree more. Frasor, of course, is one of the internal candidates for the job. He has converted six of eight save opportunities this year and has strung together 15 straight scoreless outings going into Wednesday’s series finale against Texas.
Frasor, along with left-hander Scott Downs, are expected to close Toronto’s games the final month of the season.
“I like that role,” Frasor said. “It’s only one inning, and I’m as confident in the ninth as I am in the seventh or eighth.”
